Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition

Concours Marie Cantagrill

Having at heart to support the young generation of violinists, Marie Cantagrill  created, along with the “Association Musique et Partage en Couserans”, the “Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition”. And it is in Couserans, the beautiful village of Saint-Lizier "Cité d'Art et d'Histoire", that the "Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition" took place from 2013 to 2016. In 2017, it is in Saint-Girons, capital of Couserans, that the "International Violin Competition", takes place until 2022. Since 2023, the "Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition", takes place in the Mas-d'Azil, high place of prehistory.

The Competition, open to the public, is an opportunity for violinists young and old to meet and present their work of excellence before a jury of professionals and an attentive audience.

Intended to create a sense of competition and a dynamic that will encourage the emergence of new talent, this “musical encounter” enables everyone to discover different interpretations and techniques, and to benefit from judicious and professional advice. All in a spirit of sharing and conviviality.

The Jury, presided over by the virtuoso Marie Cantagrill, is made up of violinists, musicians and composers eminently recognized by the profession.

A Special Audience Prize in each category, in addition to the prizes awarded by the professional jury, testifies to the desire to preserve the soul and primary substance of art and music: the emotion felt by the audience.

As for the 1st Prize winners in each category and level, they win the opportunity to perform as soloists with the Orchestre de Chambre d'Ariège (under the artistic direction of Marie Cantagrill) at the Concert des Lauréats.
